WWI Joseph Gallagher Air Mechanic

In 1917 grandfather Joseph Gallagher (890314) was a 2nd mechanic in the Royal Flying Corps; then in 1918 became a 3rd mechanic in the Royal Air Force.

He met and married his wife Elizabeth H Mably in Reading, Berks. And that’s all we know of him!:( He left his wife soon after they married in 1918.

I would be interested to find out what sort of planes/engines he could have been working on or anything else about what his job entailed.

The airfield at Coley Park was less than a mile from grandmother’s home. Also does anyone have any idea whether there were air mechanics at this site. If he was employed there it could explain how he met gran who worked at the CWS jam factory next door. 😉

Thanks
