WWII aeroplane "behind factory wall " ?

This has just appeared on my facebook news feed, courtesy of the Bygone Croydon fb site.

It’s an old story, but I’ve done a quick forum search and I don’t think it’s been mentioned before.

Is this really likely to be true ?

โ€œThe only thing I remember is seeing a wheel that rather looked like a bike wheel…โ€

You should see the canal round our way then…..itโ€™s full of crashed aeroplanes!

I do recall reading about Fiat R.A 1050 Tifone (license-built Daimler-Benz DB 605A-1) being found in a former Fiat building. It was restored and installed in a CASA HA-112-M1L Buchรณn back in the late 90’s. It flew the European circuit for a while then, I believe it went to a museum. If I had more time I could probably look it up in my magazine stash, but I’m just starting a six day/ 12 hour per day work period and will have little free time.

Naaahhh…………..They’re just jealous of Brum. Either that or they’re trying to move in on Wargamings publicity success.

There was the German Aero Engine bricked up behind a wall at the end of the war, the Germans used it for overhauls, when the locals moved back in one engine remained, so they shoved it down one end out of the way and bricked it up.
