WWII Air Raid Warden & ROC Reports

Whilst researching Luftwaffe raids on Glasgow, I have found that newspapers tended to be vague, for obvious reasons, as to the areas hit and the extent of the damage. I was wondering if anyone knew if there was such a thing as reports by Air Raid Wardens which would give the real extent of any damage and casualties? On a similar note are there any archives holding records of the Royal Observer Corps?
Many Thanks
Keith

Hi
I think the ROC records went to the air historical branch
cheers

I have just contacted them Jerry although I have to say I don’t expect a great deal of help from that quarter based on past experience!

Many thanks for the responses and the bomb fall map is a great idea – that map of London is incredible – it looks as if hardly anywhere on it would have escaped from at least the blasts.

If you try your local county records office they may have reports and notebooks. It is a matter of luck as to what was preserved.

London has a bomb fall map – you might find similar for other cities
