WWII crash site in Russia – pictures

I found this Russian website which puts up pictures we usually don’t see here. Like this page with photos from, what is described as a WWII crash site:

And what about this incident? I had never heard it happened:

A very large metal construction work, now abandoned. I admire the photographer who climbed all the way up to take the pictures….

You can browse for hours through this website, there are lots of unexpected pictures of unexpected subjects.

Tanks Parsley, you might not want to check out Odessa Darlings and Ukraine Singles on the same link though – mind, I wish the cockpit sections were as easy to bring back to the UK!

I’m pretty sure its a movie set.

Re-enactment of WWII Nazi occupation is not as popular in Russia, as it might sound 😉

Also there are stage lights dotted around the place.

How about these guys:

Can we guess what the wreckage is from? Looking at the undercarraige leg, was it the Soviet equivalent of the DC-3, the Tupolev something-or-other?

Great collection of pictures. I just love the abandoned feel….

Makes you wonder what the future will bring, regarding “barnfinds” in Russia.
