WWII funerals (training accidents etc)

Does anyone know if it was practice to perform the “lost wingman” flyover at funerals of pilots/crew killed in accidents at home or abroad?

Thank you.

Chris

Ps title should have read WWII (sorry, chubby finger syndrome)

Interesting question.

I don’t know it would have happened in theater, but I’m sure it happened, at least occasionally, stateside after some accidents…especially if the person was buried close to the training airfield.

An example might be the RAF cemetary near Falcon Field in Arizona.

That was my thought, but a friend had asked the question, and it seemed rude not to try to find out.

Thank you

I doubt that very much.

Far too many funerals, I’m afraid.
