That is absolutely disgusting but I’m afraid that here in Eire we have an epidemic of such heartless thefts.
A few years back one of our Air Corps SAR chopper pilots died along with his crew when they hit sand dunes whilst trying to land in fog. During his funeral his PARENTS house was robbed of just about everything, the place was stripped. And that is far form an isolated case. Burglars peruse the In Memorium ads in the papers and make their cruel plans from them.

To have the house burgled while this brave heroine was buried makes me despair about the future of this Country.
She risked her life countless times to rescue Allied airmen to continue the fight and this is how our country repays her?
Hopefully, the sheer stupidity of trying to sell stolen copies of her autobiography in local pubs will ensure the police have some good descriptions and I hope the excuses for humanity are soon caught.

That is a remarkable story ..thanks for posting !
Thanks so much for posting this… that is some remarkable story of one brave woman. Many owe their lives and freedom to her efforts. Always have admired those of the SOE & OSS for the war they fought against the Nazi along with very brave resistance fighters like Ms Peel. One tough determined woman…my condolences to her family and friends. I am sure many Ailled fliers owe her a big thanks !
A life well lived for sure !

Hers was an exceptional story too. Can’t find her autobigraphy (Miracles do happen) but I’d imagine its well worth a read.

It’s so sad to think that a generation of people are slowly leaving us – To think in a decade or so, there is probably going be nobody to tell us the story of what happened during WW2, is very sad.
