X Wing in Aircraft Museum!

http://www.wilhelm-aerospace.org/Airplanes/wings-over-rockies-99/04-x-wing-1.jpg

Does an X wing count for an aviation museum?

The Wings over the Rockies Museum does look like a cracker!

Also scrapped was as a long-range destroyer called the XB-70.

Yeah, but it made the Empire waste billions of credits on developing the Ti-Interceptor though.

It’s a little-known fact that 20 before the Rebels destroyed the Death Star, a Rebel administration cancelled the first generation of X-Wing fighters.

Lord Sandys (later found to be in the employ of Darth Vader) prepared a paper saying that the days of manned fighters were over, droids could do the job at less cost.

Thus, the promising TS-X2 wing fighter was scrapped along with an interceptor designed for cold climates called the “Arrow-X”
Also scrapped was as a long-range destroyer called the XB-70.

It’s true…look it up in “Starfighter Projects Cancelled” by Derek Wood and C3PO (with a special introduction by Chewbacca, aka the great co-pilot).

Glad y’all are finally discovering the Wings over the Rockies museum here in Denver…a great place…come on by and see it if ya get a chance….

A question….was the X-wing a match for the Zero? Never heard…

Have pics of that X-wing somewhere…..unfortunately the photos also have my ex-girlfriend in them, so I won’t pollute this site with THAT….

In Star Trek war games with my friends, I usually played Klingon warships though.

Time to drag out this photo then ?
How ‘historic’ is an X-Wing ?

Probably Photoshopped.

I don’t see why not; Lucas drew heavily from WW2 dogfights in the pacific for the starfighter stuff in the Star Wars films (even using stock footage/war movie footage as placeholders in his early review reels). I wonder if it’s a “genuine” X-Wing or a promotional/fan replica.

The ‘trench run’ on the Death Star was inspired by The Dambusters and 633 Squadron – I think Lucas actually used bits from these two movies to fill in while the effects shots were being done.
