I have in my possession a pencil drawing of XH558 signed by B. Wolland.
Does anyone know anything about this artist? Has he done anything else, or is this a one-off by an unknown artist? I can’t find anything of note on the Internet.
It seems to be a print as the drawings edges are abrupt, and AVRO VULCAN is printed below, and perhaps that wouldn’t happen on an original.
It seems, to my untrained eye, to be well done and in proportion – possibly a copy of a photograph.
The aircraft is shown in a top down view from the front right quarter flying over fields with a string of telephone poles. There is a second Vulcan (although not so well done) behind.
I found it in a bungalow I bought in St. Day some years ago.

This is spitfireman’s site (B Wallond with an A), although none of the Vulcan, it shows other examples of his work. Hopefully this will help.

I Hope I am not seen as hijacking your thread, If you do I will remove them, I was lucky enough to pick up 3 Carless original watercolours the other day for £65 in total!!!…… still cannot believe my luck, just need to frame and get them hung.. The even have a Christies Auction sticker on the reverse.
And for those that do not know, how you may remember them 😀

I have the same print – the lead aircraft is XH558. Nice bit of pencil work although the trailing aircraft does look slightly bent.
