This month’s Hemmings Motor News, has a single page feature on the history of the Vulcan, and a plug to keep XH558 flying and a link to its savethevulcan.com website.
Hemmings is the long time “bible” for North American collector car restorers and owners, and read by 200,000 people a month. That seems like a lot of readers, more than read our usual historic aviation magazines.
Each issue is about 500 pages, the first 100 pages is a slick magazine with various car profiles, show reports, auction results and features. Among the features is one on interesting aircraft, boats or trains.
The remaining 400 pages are classified ads for cars, parts and services.
Whether you’re restoring a Jag, Alfa or a simple Model T, you’ll find it there.
Hopefully, the XH558 effort will get some interest (and donations) from North America.

I hadn’t heard of the mag, I must admit, but I’ve had a look through its website www.hemmings.com and it looks a good ‘un. 12 US dollars for a year’s subscription to the digital edition looks like brilliant value for money for anyone with even the slightest interest in car collecting, anywhere. Thanks for the tip.

Surely a link to the official website would have been a much better option?
My GUESS is the author just wanted to write about the Vulcan…and he used what came up in an internet search. Remember, not everyone is as excited and knowledgeable about the effort as we are.
I’m pretty sure the Vulcan group didn’t even know about the article…which is the reason I posted the information here.
I’d be shocked if they pitched it to the publication:
1. I don’t know if their PR people would think that far “out of the box”…
2. I’d bet they’ve never heard of the publication.
Still, something is better than nothing.
I haven’t seen anything about the Vulcan (aside from a mention that it overflew a car show) in the UK vintage car magazine I receive.

That Save the Vulcan website seems a bit out of date, especially as it says they’ve raised 1M in 8 days! 😮
Anyone reading that would probably think they’ve got enough money and not realise it was referring to last years appeal, and if you go to pledge it comes up with a page not found error.
Surely a link to the official website would have been a much better option?

Hopefully it will boost the profile of the Vulcan in the states and will lead to the one’s preservered there to get a coat of paint and some tlc.
