XH558 First Flight

My money is on some date between 20th of August and the 7th of September.

Any takers?

2) A Vulcan display could make them very grateful that most of the time there are only blue Robins

Someone say something? My ears are burning 😉

Wellesbourne do have some NIMBY issues (Tell me a GA field that doesn’t)

There are two ways of looking at it.

1) A Vulcan display could make matters worse.

2) A Vulcan display could make them very grateful that most of the time there are only blue Robins

re

[QUOTE=Vulcan903;1158486]Wellesbourne have said that they do not want 558 near them, beacuse they would not be able to cope with the influx.

pathetic. The benefit surely in terms of local revenue couldnt be a bad thing?

I cant wait to see 558 in the air, so near yet so far. I know seeing the Ol Girl back in the air again will really make my day, yes I know she aint a Cranberry but shes one of a few of the most gorgeous aircraft ever to grace the skies as far as Im concerned.

Just a thought, is there, or is it worth setting up a Vulcan / favourite aircraft memories thread? I mean something along the lines of “I remember these” if anyone can translate my gobbledegook 😀 Bex

going by this, i take it the runways at southend and at wellesbourne have been dramatically shortened since their vulcan’s arrived?

Wellesbourne have said that they do not want 558 near them, beacuse they would not be able to cope with the influx. Shame, I was always promoting the idea, and the airfield owners said to me they would assist in making it happen – open up surrounding fields for parking etc.

No, but there is a lot of difference between flying in a lightly loaded aircraft at the end of its useful life and operating a complex type into which the nation and many individuals have invested a lot of money.

Frequently too, landing run for an aircraft is shorter than take-off distance required.

Southend’s long enough:D

Not to mention Elvington…

Elvington certainly is but I’m afraid Southend’s about 1000ft too short, I’ve already made enquiries!

From the TVOC forum.
No flight just max power runs.

” Yes we are out max power ground running today and its going really well apart from the rabbit who tried to run through the jet wash his ears are now permanently at 45 degrees Please be patient we will try to keep you all up to date ps it was myself and ffm dressed up in flying suits this morning sorry if we got you a bit too excited”

Hangar doors now open she must be coming back, if the chute door is up she did her fast taxi today!

No NOTAM in place.

Mind you I can’t really see why they need one, but it’s probably some H&S thing.

Who knows? I certainly wouldn’t place any money on it happening today.

Moggy

Ah! The old double bluff NOTAM trick.

Have a NOTAM issued even though strictly it might not be necessary, withdraw it or let it expire…and then go.:)

Even better idea fly XH558 to Wellsbourne and have XH558 and XM655 run up together 🙂

Split the money 50-50 for the 2 Vulcans and you would get loads of people turn up 🙂

It would be nice if they could get XH558 into Woodford while XM603 is still around id pay to see them both together, maybe get the BBMF Lancaster there for a nice photo opp.
