XH558 Hastings Display

Just watched 558 display in appalling weather conditions, first time I have seen her airborne, fantastic.

Thousands turned out for it and top marks to the crew

Something that has never occurred to me seeing Vulcans on the ground but did yesterday seeing one against the sky, why were they painted with the same camo top and bottom? I would have thought a single sky-ish colour underneath would have made more sense.

Well one aircraft today packed Hastings, I know in another thread there was some contention over it’s extended life announcement, but I doubt many other aircraft would cause so much of a stir.

Was particularly poignant for me, I first saw 558 at the 96 Big Thunder airshow, I took my daughter aged six with me to that show, she remembered it starting up and me telling her to put her hands over her ears. She was stood with me today now aged 23 and we saw it together flying for the first time today, after a rubbish last year, it was a nice little box to tick off as done, but sure hope to see it again on a day that is more pleasant and less salt spray from the sea in my face !

It normally takes me five minutes to cycle home from the museum, today it took over twenty due to the traffic on Bohemia road leaving town so it certainly brought a lot of people into Hastings, lets hope they all spent a little bit of money whilst here.

As Junk Collector says, a brilliant display in really turbulent conditions!

Quite awesome watching from the West Hill by Hastings Castle. Again, as JC says, top marks to the crew. Don’t think I have ever seen so many people. Certainly seemed more than the usual Red Arrows crowd at Hastings.

A not very good photo taken from the museum, my camera and photo skills are not up to much! Awesome sight sound and smell. 🙂
