Did anybody see ‘558 cruising over Thanet on the way to Brize from Lasham airshow last month?
Curious to see who else saw her since it must be the first time since the early nineties that she was in Thanet.
It was a beautiful sight to see her cruising off into the sunset with them 4 Rollers growling away.

The DC-8 is going to be restored? I thought that was slowly being scrapped, it is in the area of death, i know the ex-RAAF 707 is hopefully gonna be restored but that seems to be on hold atm. They main use of the airfield at the moment seems to be training for business jets.
I live in the town, by the station and urself?
Over near Asda, on Rumfields Rd.
That is correct in the DC-8 going to the netherlands.
It is going to be restored to static condition in KLM colors.
The 707 has got be hush kitted before it can fly, not too sure what is going on with it at the moment.
I’ve noticed quite a few heavies taking off from manston in the last couple of weeks, which is a nice change from the boring business jets, including a DC-10, which was nice n’ loud!

Thats pretty interesting, they had better hurry, bits seem to disappear off it every week and its not very weather tight atm

The Aviodrome (lelystad airport NL) is trying to get that DC-8 to the Netherlands. because this aircraft is actually the last “short” version that actually flew with the KLM when in service…
It will be restored to static condition so don’t expect to see it fly out from there 😉
Grtz,

i apologise, it must be the 92 show, had both on VHS at one point! was an amazing display!
Indeed mate, 92 i believe was the last show it did.
A friend of mine has the ’91 open day on VHS, but i only would of been 2 years old at the time, so i don’t remember.
And to the other comment, i’m not sure what the situation was with Lasham, but it was heading west, the only place it could of been going at that time of the day (around 7:30pm) must of been Brize, as she is not allowed to fly at night.
Where abouts in Broady are you mark?
Also just found out the MK DC-8 parked up at Manston is going to be restored.

It’ll have been earlier than that, she was grounded at Bruntingthorpe in March 1993, 1992 being her last full season.

I thought she didn’t fly that day, wasn’t she grounded at Yeovilton, first by a brake problem & then the weather?
