XL flight question

Does anyone know what aircraft would usualy, or is scheduled to, fly the XLA852 and XLA853 flights from Man to Barbados in October?

I have the suspicion its a 763.

Yep the delays seem to be bad at the moment – and the crew aren’t happy as flights are being shifted with 5 mins notice. EG my sister this morning due to fly out on that Bastia flight (short, easy trip), then told at the airport she’s off on a Taba flight that’s running horrendously late! (Taba = nightmare flight).
Hopefully they’ll get their act together.

Merely just an observation of their performance in general. Excel are meant to be the best charter airline, so no, we aren’t slating them.

I remember it being 1hr20 minutes late the other week.
For Excel in general, looks like they’ve got a few problems at the moment not only with their long haul fleet, given the delays at Gatwick:D:

Ok, is your little rant over? Good.

Now, allow me to explain; The flights come as part of a package deal and cannot be altered. So I really do not have a choice anyway. I’m no millionaire and only just get by, so this treat is as expensive as I can afford after 12 months saving. I do not have the luxury of paying for a higher class of ticket.

As it is, I have no illusions as to what I’ll find in economy.
I am fully aware of the hardships some FAs must endure and I always, always, make a point of smiling at them as they pass and saying please, thank you, etc. This hasn’t won me more than a smile back, but thats all I expect.

All I’m asking for is a little heads up on what seatpitch I can expect. I’m perfectly happy in cattle class, and have flown CO with a 757 from EDI to EWR in cattle class and found the service excellent.

I was not expecting PTVs so no hopes shattered there.

Cheers 🙂 Next question is does anyone have the foggiest idea what XL’s onboard service, legroom etc are like?

Why care about the onboard service, legroom etc.? I do not know the XL’s standards, but generally it can be said, that the more you pay for your ticket the more you get, simple as that! If you buy your two way ticket to TFS (to name any destination) from some airline for 2 pounds, what do you expect? Do you expect a reclining sofa with 6 feet legroom and a three course meal + snacks both ways? If so, you are in for a big disappointment

But, no matter what airline you fly with, you will always get the best service possible from the darlings in the back! They are sometimes paid as little as 700 pounds a month total (I can name the airline, but will not), and when you board the airplane in TFS they might have been on duty for 10 hours(four hours to go), preceeded by minimum rest (travel too and from the airport does not count) of 11 hours preceeded by a duty time of 14 hours etc. etc. Do that for a week, and your brain will be fried 😡 And the pick up times are not at all that cultivated either! Try starting your shift at 5 o’clock in the morning, after a grueling week! So, if the service is crap, as them about how long they have been on duty for. But they always have a cup of coffee and a smile.

Pay peanuts, get treated like monkey. I rest my case.

Now, where is my coat?

Cheers 🙂 Part of me was hoping for that 743… but C’est la vie.

Sure, my sister’s on her SNY Crew flight today to SSH!:D

Longhaul on the 767-300 is divided into three cabins,
Long-haul economy,
Long-haul premium
Excel One.

In economy, the video is still a big screen projection. 2 meal service, 1 main and then a snack appropriate to flight time. I’m not sure on legroom in economy, but I gather that it’s not too( ) bad!
Can’t think what else to say really, feel free to ask though.
