Here is a shot taken quite a bit before she was broken up. Shown carrying a training Blue Steel missile. I do not know where this was taken but I am sure it is not Wittering.

Whilst I agree it was a terrible waste (something to do with the RAF decreeing that thier bases should have only one gate guard),it has to be remembered that the Victor was still in service at the time and that the scrapping of this airframe meant that she could be cannibalised for spares. The Vulcan was ofcourse already out of service,and XM607 was the one that dropped the bombs on Stanley airfield. Looked at this way,thier reasoning seems to make more sense.
Still a great shame though 🙁
