Goose Bay does seem to be a black hole for historic planes, Vulcan, Gannet and Glacier Girl!

Vulcan XL361 Update

Apparently access to the cockpit is not an option for reasons unknown? I have managed to get contact about her future etc and will post an update on this thread when I get further information.

The Goose Bay Vulcan

Does anyone have updated photos of XL361? I came across this photo on the internet and the paint looks in poor shape.

Did the RAF strip out her cockpit for spares before display or is it still intact? When dad saw her years ago the crew access door was firmly locked

The MOD offically handed over XL361 to the Mayor of Happy Valley in the mid 1980’s.
The repaint will take some doing, and I imagine what H&S implications there are on site.
Shame about Goose, every one I have met who has been there has fond memories of the base and the Bulldog Bar.
Got a nice Vulcan video about Vulcans & Goose that was made in the mid 1970’s.

She is owned by the town is she not?

I thought I had read somewhere that she was gifted to the town of Goosebay by the RAF? Hopefully she can stay at the airport and that she can be repainted in the future….
