XL426 up and running

I see XL426 is now up and running again – The future looks bright, the future looks ‘delta’.

Fantastic, what a treat to see another Vulcan alive!!! WELL DONE to all those involved

426 has always been alive (at least since the mid-90s). She’s stopped doing fast taxying for a bit whilst they do some deep maintenance, but she still makes a noise regularly.

They’ve got regular engineering updates and a few facebook groups.

Gets a bit vocal when it clears it throat around the 15minute mark 🙂

Thanks for posting the video phantom phil. In my view a ground running Vulcan is as good as the one in the air. Up close at Wellesbourne in the summer from engine start to shut down it is even more exciting.

Stick too me like putty.

Hi there,

The email links work for me, so I’ve cut and pasted them into a PM; please let me know if you need any further details for AHL; I’m sure they’d be keen to hear from you!

Getting back onto topic – hopefully the Vulcan Restoration Trust will be having a display about XL426 at the NAM event in April 2012! 😉

[QUOTE=On a similar subject are you aware of the Aviation Heritage Lincolnshire ‘Shouting The Odds’ Cold War oral history project? :)[/QUOTE]

Yes I am aware, but computer wouldn’t allow me to use the email link.

I’m not sure if I’m what they’re after, as my time on the Vulcan came at the end of their service, (1978 – 82 ) being posted to Kinloss just before the Falklands War.

Please PM me if you have the relevant email address.

Regards, Cabbage

That’s great news – perhaps we need to consider a ‘Forum Meet’ on April 28th!

On a similar subject are you aware of the Aviation Heritage Lincolnshire ‘Shouting The Odds’ Cold War oral history project? 🙂
