Since Woodford’s now gone and 603 has been saved it’s probably safe to post these. If anyone objects let me know and I’ll take them down.
Last summer, whilst 603’s future was still uncertain, a team from NEAM travelled to Woodford to eye up her bee-sting to replace XL319’s. Luckily Avro heritage have since stepped in and her bits no longer need to find a new home. Here are some photos we took at the time. I have to say she is in a worse condition than any other Vulcan I’ve seen, which is a surprise given that she was still cared for and live until recently. She is far from beyond help though and I look forward to seeing what the heritage team do with her.

Grubby but all in one piece.
A few skin repairs needed on the elevons
Nav panel a little corroded
Cockpit, missing the control sticks oddly.
And one ejection handle has been pulled
Full set of jacks
One of the two engines still in her
Afterwards the friendly volunteers gave us a fascinating tour of the Avro heritage centre.
Avro pool table;
A section in remembrance of Bill Stableford, Avro designer and friend of the VRT.

Afraid it’s not anti-flash but standard white as painted by the apprentices a good few years ago.
I think its as near as possible we will see for a Vulcan in Anti Flash, unless XH558 gets another lottery grant and theres about as much chance of that as the VTS has of not sending any begging letters this season 😉 😉

Great photos Sven. They do answer some of the questions about her completeness.

A great shame when historic aircraft go into decline, but how many Vulcans
can be kept in good condition ? Where is the money going to come from ?
