I have just spent eight days over Christmas at Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. The main reason for the journey was to accompany a colleague who regularly dives there !
But I thought it would be rude not to return with a few hundred photos of the movements at the local …..
A few of the locally registered aircraft and a few of, so many, visitors to start with.
Keith 🙂

Some nice ones Keith. I like the Meridiana Fly, not too keen on the Egyptair Express though.

Thanks G … Well MAN may have the big spray jobbys but one of those Jordan Aviation 737’s was sprayed here at NWI last year …. in fact it was quite nice to see so many of the smaller airlines there of which many have had an example pass through Norwich spray shops over the last few years !!

Sharm El Sheikh is teeming with Russian airlines. There are nearly as many as in Moscow (and possibly Southend :D).

Ive never seen or heard of half these airlines ! Funny to think most of these small Russian airlines now use western aircraft
Great pics !

Just read the bit about security telling you to stop taking pics. Was it security from the airport ? I’d be surprised if it was security from the hotel as they are used to people taking pics from that corridor. When I was there the guy who had the room before me was also taking pics and someone at reception mentioned there bring spotters here all the time. I did notice a security guard behind the perimeter fence most of time and tried to keep behind the post when stuff was not moving.

It’s blooming difficult getting photos there. You have a split second window to get a shot between the posts. Love the I-Fly. I’ve not caught that one. Great shots.

Alan. Well yes all taken from the only spot with a view, on the balcony of block 4 at the Hilton Sharks Bay, but aviation photography in Egypt is a no no !!
I got away with it for five days ! but on the ‘sixth day of christmas’ security did come to me …. and demanded that I cease in a very forceful way …. so to save the 400 photos that I had I backed off gracefully and became a tourist 😉
I take it that there’s only civilian aircraft operating there ?, but in many countries it’s security for the sake of it.
I remember back in the late 70’s, walking out to our JAT 727 for the flight home at Pula, when what should
happen to taxi past, but a Mig-21. I said to my mate, “I’d love to get a picture”, “don’t you bl***y dare” he replied. 🙂

So to continue a few photos of the ‘not often seen visitors’ with more European visitors to follow if you would like them ??

Nice set of pictures, and some interesting colour schemes.
No restrictions on photography ?, or were these all taken outside of the airport ?
