Whilst rooting through my shed, i found a big rectangular inspection hatch cover , yellow paint on the inside, and the Letters XN774 .. I am guessing this is from The Lightning F2.A which was broken up a few years ago.. however.. I heard the cockpit was saved..ive had a search for a photo online, but not had much luck,
There was however some very nice pics of her in service in the 1960s 😀
panel is about 2ft x 1ft dimensions .
does anyone have any pics of the cockpit thats ,or was being restored ?. would love to see how its getting on, :D;)
and wonder if the panel i have is of any use ?? to the cockpit owner ??..its a nice piece, being it has its number etched inside 😀

I seem to recall reading somewhere that what was left was buried under a big pile of gravel

According to the net – XN774 F.2A Darren Swinn (cockpit only), Boston, Lincolnshire
Also noted that Darren apparently runs THIS Binbrook website, so should make it straightforward to contact him? 😉

Merkle,
I’ve had a dig but can’t find them ATM, I was sent some pics of her as she is now, the cockpit tub was resurected from a few of the remaining frames and canopy assembly, the internals were pieced together from spares and it has become quite a respectable looking cockpit rig, all be it missing the skin!.
HTH,
John.

I can’t see any photo ?? ?
By: mjr - 19th April 2010 at 21:55
it should have a nunber on the inside, i.e the yellow side, followed by an S or a P. that will narrow it down to exactly where it comes from.
