On Saturday the 12th of Feb Buccaneer XN923 at Gatwick Aviation Museum ran the starboard Gyron Junior at a break in proceedings in the 175th meeting of the BAPC. She ran without any problems and delighted all of those who witnessed the event. A little while later the run was repeated, this time only a short run with a different crew member at the controls this time to re-acquaint him with the aircraft. He had previously run the aircraft but not for some time.
The port engine was not run due to a numbers of problems. (Not least a crack in the compressor casing). We do have another Gyron Junior that we received last year, it looks to be an excellent candidate for a swap with the current port engine. Hopefully we will exchange the engine this year, this will give us an S1 with both engines serviceable.

Was great to see (or rather hear) on Saturday. Many thanks for the effort put in by the volunteers. An enjoyable day.

Nice to see…. is this the only running Gyron powered aircraft then? Can’t think of anything else of the top of my head?
