Okay, my Lightning book again, sorry chaps!
Anybody have a decent photo of T5 XS458 when she wore the trial overall grey paint scheme at Binbrook? I’ve got one shot but it ain’t too good…. anyone have a picture hidden away anywhere please??
Also, what’s the actual name of the group that looks after 458 at Cranfield now? Or is there no “official” group that I can specify?

just had a very nice chat with the owner of 458 Russell Carpenter, such a nice plesant chap and very informative, the reason she is in the splenidi colour scheme she wears now is by the way of a tribuite to the lightning and the brave men who flew them in defence of our country, she carries two colour scheme’s, and are seen to be the most instantly recognisable and colourfull schemes that lightning’s wore, she also bares the sqd markings of all the units equiped with lightnings all variants,

Yes, that’s the aircraft but I was referring to the in-service grey scheme she wore prior to going grey/green. Great photos though – shame I didn’t see them a couple of weeks ago as I could have included a couple in my book but it’s finished now. I never quite worked-out why they repainted 458 in grey at Cranfield but then I’ve never quite understood why she now wears markings that the aircraft never carried in service. Still, I guess she looks pretty at least! I did finally get hold of a lovely in-flight shot of 458 in the grey scheme courtesy of a very able photographer – who happens to have an almost indecent collection of brilliant Lightning photos!
