Many thanks for a great thread and superb set of pics. This must be the most immaculately restored Lightning existing today? Now a query?
When 458 was initially restored to this high standard, the port side was painted in the beautiful and authentic red and white colours of 226 OCU which very few people got to see before it was repainted into 92 Squadron’s colours. Although still very nice, I do feel it is a shame that this detracted from the authenticity of the machine, in view that 92 Squadron never operated a T.5, only a T.4. What was the reasoning behind this repaint, as I would have loved to have seen the 226 OCU scheme which was accurate for a T5?
