XX914 VC-10 – Yes Comet – Maybe?

Hello
As XX914 is definately the RAE VC-10 but after reading the article in Feb issue of Jets Monthly about the military Comets, there is a bit in there referring to ex BOAC Comet 4 G-APDP becoming XX914 in 1973 for the RAE and the being scrapped in 1984 – I think this is wrong, any comments?

They have mixed the serial with XX944, an ex-Dan Air comet used by the RAE for two years then withdrawn due to corrosion.

Looks like a typo, Comet 4 G-APDP became XX944 for the RAE, http://rzjets.net/aircraft/?page=2&typeid=246

XX914 was the RAE VC-10, ex G-ATDJ and ended its days as a traning aid at Brize.
XV814 was an RAE Comet 4, ex G-APDF, known as the Comrod due to the Nimrod fin fillet, it was still flying into the eraly 1990s, scrapped in ’97 I believe.
