Lindy ran on the saturday only. I think the buccaneer ran both days.

The fire crews were using Lindy for training after she’d finished her run, nothing to worry about.
Did anyone get any photos?

Apparently the airfield is very waterlogged at present, with several ‘lakes’ which have formed!

Another event at YAM coming soon is the annual Military Vehicle Rally on May 10/11th. ( http://www.wheelsandwings.co.uk/ ). Last year the BBMF were there, and I believe they are paying a visit this year too. Here’s a few pics from last year.

Don’t forget also the air museum hold regular events – okay not flying displays but certainly yesterday Lindy went for a trip down the runway, and I think one of the Bucc’s were out too.

I drove past about 1200 yesterday and saw a load of fire engines around Lindy, don’t think she ran today. Hope everything was ok, I thought the jet runs were going to be both days but when I went past (about the same time) today there didn’t look to be any action. Ollie?

I saw the news item during the local news section of Breakfast Time. Stated that the airshow had ran out of money so this weekend’s Thunder Weekend would be one of the only chances people would have to see ‘Lusty Lindy’ roll along the runway. A case of misinformed journalism in my opinion. With the next scheduled airshow due to take place in 16 months time, I hardly think the organisers would have decided to call it a day just yet!

Air show aside, Lindy is run several times during the year, so that really is misinformed journalism.
Next years airshow should be alot bigger and better than previous years. They have made the right decision IMHO

There’s a good article about the YAM airshow and an interview with the organiser on the link below.

Saw a short snippet on the local TV, and this year’s is off. However, as the YAM website’s home page states:

‘The Yorkshire Air Show is not a Yorkshire Air Museum event and is held on the adjacent airfield owned and operated by a private company. All enquiries about the Air Show should be made to the owners Elvington Parks Ltd.’

And so, if you go here:

http://www.elvington.org/

‘The Yorkshire Air Show is due to become bigger and better following an announcement by the organisers to run the two day event bi-annually.

Following a couple of years of exceptionally bad weather, the break will allow the organisers time to implement new drainage systems to combat wet and boggy areas of the airfield which have affected the smooth running of the show.

The organisers are planning to augment the flying displays with a range of exciting events on the ground to provide non-stop entertainment throughout the two days.

Part of the money earmarked for next year’s show will be allocated to the one in 2009 to cover the dramatically increased costs needed to stage the larger event.’

Cheers

Simon
