Y.A.M latest pix Merry Xmas to all!

Dear all,

had a week off last week so sorry if i missed any PMs or posts – managed to pop into Elvo for a short while (always coincides with their annual xmas dinner so missed the shop -fortunately ££ 😮 and a cracking feed at the NAAFI 🙁 )

Anyway took a few pix apols for the quality – naff camera and no lights on in the T-2- again the Air Gunners display for me is the pick of the bunch, bit disappointed to see the Halifax was surrounded by Tornadoes and other aircraft so you couldnt get near her 🙁

The restoration shop seems to have been tidied up and looks superb – the Hadrian resto is quite brilliant as is the F-24/Argus and Anson rebuilds

Dak now has engines since i last went and it looks like a dispersal is being built for the Victor…Hawk procedures trainer is new to me and have never worked out what the U.S. Marked wing is from….T33?

Had to post a pix of their Halifax throttle box for cees, well a wooden one anyway! 😀

Auster for Rob Langham, Mossie for Bruce, Hal for Cees…..here they come!

A very Merry Christmas to all my friends, new and old on the forum!

Hi,

The nose is indeed the victor simulator, i should know i work on it! As well as the real thing. It still works and plans are afoot to open it for public use. (For a price as when you turn it on all the lights dim!!!) after some external restoration is finished. The pan has been built for the victor or other aircraft.

As for the hanger, it may not be the best layout…HOWEVER! It is the only way to get lots of aircraft inside and protect them from the cold! Im not a halifax person anyway, i prefer things with hot air and much noise coming out of the back of them!

Nice looking airyplanes though….

Anymore F-24 airframes I’ve missed (probably)

TT

There is an Argus nearing completion to airworthy condition on a farm in North Devon. Gentleman that owns it has one of those ex-Israeli Air Force Super Cubs that are being advertised at the moment in Aeromart.

The Norfolk & Suffolk collection have a pre war F-24 from memory which came from Black Barn Aviation – not quite sure why she ended up not being rebuilt.

The Argus is the former Thorpe Camp and before that East Kirkby G-AJOZ . She has been in that kind of condition for about twenty years . Her frame is quite corroded from siting outside for a long time at Sywell from memory. I believe her Warner went on one of the Leisure Sport machines.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for thinking of me,I just got back from christmas shopping in London and of course visited the IWM at Lambeth for some pics of PN323. Now it’s all back to normal unfortunately. I always wondered where they got the second throttle box from, now I now. I will not settle for a dummy one and will keep on looking for a real one.

Have a great christmas all

Cheers

Dont know which type of engine will be fitted to the Y.A.M. example I’m afraid but it did have traces of civillian colours which leads me to suspect it may be using a Ranger (no idea why)

There are more than just two Argus ssssses in the UK Rob, two airworthy that I know of one in Olive Drab operating from Sibson, another has been advertised for sale in Pilot for a while – silver with D-Day stripes, also I THINK that East Kirkby have one, there was one again, I think, under rebuild at Felthorpe before the fire?

Nice looking airyplanes though….

Cool, didn’t realise they had an Auster there, cheers! Any idea if the Argus is a piston or radial engined one? Be nice to have a piston one as Cosford’s is radial, and as far as I know thats all the ones in the UK
