As part of the Thunder weekend held at the Yorkshire Air Museum and Allied Air Forces Memorial at Elvington, just south of York, there was a night photo shoot held on the evening of the 16th October. Star attraction was the Nimrod MR2 that had been delivered in April. Also part of the night shoot were two Buccaneers, Hurricane FSM and Lightning F6. Having arrived late afternoon, I had a quick wander around the outside exhibits waving my camera about on the end of a mono pod at first before attaching it to a tripod as the light faded.
Many thanks to Ian and James and the rest of the volunteers at Elvington for an excellent evening out and to my brother for the transport there and back.

What a shame that the one aircraft that belongs to the night couldn’t have been wheeled out too.
The night runs of Just Jane are spectacular, and whilst Friday 13th wouldn’t be as alive, it would still look in its rightful element as dusk fell.
Looks like a good evening anyway. Well done the museum

Heck- If I’d have known you were there I’d have wandered round from behind the hangar and said hello! 🙁

Excellent picture specially the first one. To bad they don’t fly anymore.

Nostalgia. Very nice pix… and a great end-of-era shot of the Victor.
Thanks for sharing.
