One of our group visits Headcorn fairly frequently, usually Saturdays or Sundays. Otherwise we tend to stick to the Kent/Sussex border for aerial activity. Which reminds me, I must go down to Lydd sometime soon to visit some old friends. 😮
Sounds brilliant has this group got a website at all? When you mean the Kent/Sussex border do you mean like the Kent and East Sussex Railway area? 😎

The colour scheme was decided by the aircrafts previous owners when it was imported in 1995. Close up it is starting to look a bit shabby due to a lack of time to work on it. There is actually a group of 4 of us operating it clocking up around 70 hours per yearmainly over Kent! 😀

I have flown for about two hours with small reserve, but i prefer to stop for a stretch of legs etc after about 90 mins ( about 300 kms )

Simon
Flying for two hours or 90 mins will be long another flying around Kent doing some loops etc 😎
Aha! Another Yak herder.
Here is mine, not quite as spangly clean as yours I’m afraid 🙁
Wow that is one nice Yak you have there why is it in D-day colours?
Never knew we had two YAK 52 owners on the forum 😎

thank you all for your kind comments and beutiful photographs,
TAYLORMAN- with you all the way on the F4U, my father flew it with the fleet air arm in WW11 against the japanese(ps there will be one at the breighton show this weekend if you want a close look at one)
manston airport yes the 52 is easy to fly -sort of point and go, but a bit fiddly with the prop and gills management for cylinder head temp and then there is remembering to put the wheels down at the end!. bit crucial on fuel management- only 120 litres and uses it fast, i only get about 20 hrs a year so mine costs a fortune per hour but the groups i know of with say 200 hrs get about £200 -£250 per hr,
if any of you would like a ride i am at breighton most sundays and it is @ £80.00 for fuel for 25 mins of full on fun,
thanks again
simon
Well sounds good I would like to own a YAK 52 one day and base it at nearby Headcorn Aerodromme 🙂 so how long can you fly a 52 for before its time to land again?

Simon,
I have one here: http://aviationpages.fotopic.net/p31195521.html
Click the image for a larger version and then use ‘right-click and save as…’
If you want the high res image, drop me a line as it’s quite large!
It was a shame about the bins and the fast food vans right next to it though. I also have some ‘YAK from this years RACo Radial Fly-in at Breighton on the same web site. If any are of any use, let me know.
Cheers,
Chris
