To temper the sad news that Mosquito HJ711 is leaving Elvington, I thought I would post some shots of our taxying day we held last Sunday. Rather than posting in the Meteor or Victor thread, I thought I would set up a separate thread for the day’s events.
It was an engineering exercise rather than a proper open day, hence it wasn’t advertised, but we still had a decent crowd of spectators. And when you look at the participant list, who can blame them?!
The Devon was out first, but as I was assisting on chock duties on this aircraft I got no pictures. I did get plenty of Nimrod XV250 taking a couple of circuits of the pan though…

After which the BBMF happened to have a Hurricane passing

It’s great these birds can be run up and kept (semi) active. Well done

After lunch, it was the Buccaneer’s turn. Decades after she probably last visited this airfield’s concrete in RN colours, RN trials airframe XN974 is back!

The Victor closed the day. On her first circuit I was busy, as we did a practice turnaround. I am in charge of the turnaround team when we use the runway, and given we haven’t been out there for a couple of years it made sense to practice our turnaround procedures. It did mean i was free to photograph some of the lady’s second circuit though, before see-in

Finally, a big thankyou to these guys
None of what we do could happen without them!
Cheers for looking folks.
