An event Ianf of this very forum originally put into motion was the YAM nightshoot. This event, appropriately enough held on Friday 13th March, included the Halifax and Mosquito static under the lights, and the Dakota and Devon running at night for the first time. Some of my efforts from the evening.
Devon
Mosquito

And of course Halifax ‘Friday 13th’

While we were clearing away we gave the Gannet a quick light up

Looks like an interesting event but why do so many of these night shoot events go to so much effort and then light the aircraft so harshly. A few well positioned lights with some subtle coloured filters would work much better than direct floodlights aimed straight at the subject

There all good, but I liked the silhouette of the photographers and their tri[pods, also the shadow on the hanger doors.
I like to take photos like that myself when I am out and about, they break up the photos of the same subject and give a feel for being there. Thank you.

The joys of being a museum volunteer, something that I have not been able to do since Strathallan folded. I really miss the buzz of helping out.
Yes, I suppose factoring in the cost of the fuel it is probably worth the money.
I’ll put the YAM web site on my watch list for a night shoot some other time, I pinned my hopes on another museum, which has disappointed me.
Thanks.

If it gives you the chance of photos like that I’d say yes and i don’t even know how much it costs.

I don’t think it’d be right for me to comment on the value for money as a YAM volunteer, Wallace. Most people sounded like they went away happy, and when you consider that fuel for 2 aircraft had to be costed into it…

I’m curious to know if you think it was worth the money?
I would like to attend one of these night shoots myself but wonder whether it’s worth paying so much for the privilege.
