I am investigating a “rumour” that Chuck Yeager visited Norway in the 1950’s and demonstrated supersonic flying at an airshow/open day at Gardermoen airbase. So far I have no confirmation of this info, and I don’t know what type of aircraft he might have used. (maybe F-100 Super Sabre..??)
But, I was thinking that if he visited Norway it might have been part of a ‘tour’ visiting different european countries giving demos at airshow etc….
Is there anyone on the forum knowing of any such occurences?
Thanks.

Apologies for being off topic, but when Ryanair started flying Liverpool to Torp for Oslo, an easyJet pilot piped up when he heard me pasing the route clearance “Where’s Torp?!” Knowing Norway’s topography,I answered “About 40 miles from Oslo, assuming there IS a road!”

From 1954 to 1957 Yeager was stationed at hahn air force base in germany and they flew the F100 so i would not be surprised.
