Yeovilton Air Day 2007

The weather at Yeovilton Air Day was close to perfect yesterday – particularly after lunch – and I’d say that this year’s crowd was a big as ever.

We could all decry some omission from the flying display programme – the absence of the Sea Vixen (reasons well documented elsewhere on the forum) and the Sea Hawk (presumably u/s?) were of particular disappointment to me – but all in all I had a very enjoyable day. In particular the Typhoon display and the Commando Assault which I never tire of seeing. Well done to everyone involved.

Looking forward Yeovilton 2008 already.

Cheers,

Mark:)

I can’t make these shows these days due to not being able to self drive (health reasons) and even short walks are now excruciatingly painful and don’t have the means for mobility aids so I am envious of those who are able to make the effort worthwhile.

I do appreciate, however, reports and pic’s from those who can get there.

I have many happy memories of working on the flying side at past Yeovilton Air Days and particularly remember how close we came to a nasty on the runway as 738 Hunters (Rough Diamonds) landed in formation at the end of the display. That, and the reasons behind it (never knew if there was any inquiry – probably not) are probably best kept for another thread sometime.

I thought that the Navy put on a great show!
Both myself and my Dad thoroughly enjoyed our day out, thanks to the generosity of:

where I won our tickets in a competition organised by them.

My highlight was the ‘ barnstorming ‘ display, proper back to basics stuff.

…. the absence of the ……Sea Hawk (presumably u/s?)…..

The Sea Hawk was there – on static. She’ll be flying very soon.
