Yes, someone did go to Culdrose – Me

And here is a little taster to be going on with – there was a surprise visitor, not shown here yet – Please, no giving the game away, those that might have been there.

However, I will say, it is an Historic Aircraft – a big one.

I live close(ish) by. Well, it’s closer than Yeovilton, let’s say that.

😀 Fair one, wish i lived closer to Yeovilton myself.

The Culdrose airday looks mighty impressive from your piccies. Will certainly have to wander down there next time though their airday is mid week!!! Ours was on a Saturday in our own time 🙁 Grr hehe. Loving the Sea fury shots what a great aircraft.

I made use of the excellent grandstand. I even managed to haul myself up to the top of it.

Have to admit, while RAF pilots seem to favour showing us the bottom sides of their aircraft, both F16’s showed how it should be done, without compromising safety, giving plenty of topside views and exhilerating aerobatic maneouvers.

Sorry RAF/Navy lads, but they stole the fighter show by quite a distance.

Hi Rob

Nice photos – I was over by the Spanish C-295 and Dakota so had a good view on the run-in of them all – loved the VC10 – and, for personal reasons, thoroughly enjoyed “Mickey” Artiges in the Belgian F.16. The GR7 was about an hour late, but I didn’t hear anything on the tannoy about it, and I saw the P Provost being pushed off the grass before they stopped it going out. I only had to drive from Truro, so it took 40 mins going, and 90 mins going home afterwards!! Pity the only Tornado was in the static display, along with the French Navy and Kriegsmarine contributions.

cheers

Allan

They look pretty good to me!!! 😉 most of the others are kings of the “CROPS ie PHOTO SHOPS” 😉 😉 Anna 😀 :diablo: :diablo: :diablo:

:dev2:
Ahhh how the innocent are deceived.

That’s almost exactly what these are, too, I’m afraid.

Resized and cropped to 800×480, then a bit of colour adjustment and some of them are sharped much more than I would like.

Thanks, I just wish I had the kind of camera that could make a difference to the quality. I think I’m getting it basically right, but they’re not quite “top notch”. 🙁

I hope not, you don’t need excess weight in a glider !!!!! 😉

I, however, have several – and not a winged thing in sight.

LOL!!! Very true Sir. 😉 😀

So that’s why he was in such a hurry as he arrived (GR.7 I mean) – thundering about at 650+ knots (it must have been – he had trouble stopping) – it’s enough to wake you up.

Unfortunately, I’m somewhat blaise about Harrier’s you see so many of them, they become just another grey (or black) noisy blob. Now I’ve only seen the PP a few times before – I know it’s not exciting, but I don’t think there are quite so many around – well there you go.

Anyway, another few to look at:

Harrier GR.7. The programme changed several times during the day and with the Red Arrows being on next, that was that!

Wasn’t a guess – I was there! The Piston Provost was indeed due to display but, due to several ad hoc alterations to the flying programme the display slot was scrubbed as he taxied out to take off! Not impressed!

I guessed as much :diablo:

The PP was scrubbed for something else? What on earth could it have been. The programme was full, sure – but I’m sure 5 or 6 minutes could have been found for it.

🙂 at Anna

Here are a couple more – featuring the surprise and correctly guessed guest, an RAF VC10

Guy’s glider routine is truly outstanding. The inclusion of the Extra and the routine they perform together makes that one of the most innovative displays I’ve seen in a long time. Well worth making sure you are not in the burger van queue for!!

I abandoned the office and travelled with the Dak to Culdrose having never been before. A nice display I thought, although as Rob says it’s a shame there was no Hunter or Vixen display. The VC10 made the trip worthwhile for me though 😀

Excellent photos Rob, thanks for posting.

Tom.

😉 Look forward to seeing that! Anna 😉
