Thank you for the helpful comments and links . The clippings look to be taken from the Doc Furniss film taken at Podington with the 92nd Bomb Group. He was a flight surgeon and had his own cine camera, because of his rank and standing he had some levity in using the camera on base.

I think it was shown last year but I think that Yesterday only shows repeats as part of the UKTV group of channels.
In any event my box will be set to record this weekend – sounds unmissable!!:)

I think this programme may be presented by Michael Brandon – he of Dempsey and Makepeace fame. If so, it’s been on ‘Yesterday’ before (along with just about everything else).
More here.

Now this sounds like a great topic one I have read as much as possible about and of course spoken to many Eighth veterans in my country over the years. Was this a local production or sometime the BBC did ? Hope someone would be so kind as to record it and put it on Youtube if possible.
Hopefully with the 70 th anniversary coming up next year of many key dates in WW II history… like D-Day , Market -Garden , Battle of the Bulge etc…we will see a new wave of documetaries on these event with a fresh prespective.
Over here I have read in the some industry movie publications that Hanks * Speilberg are working on a new film project about the Eighth AF. Looking for more to come out about this effort for sure.
Work in the TV news business myself and could someone explain to me this “Freeview Channel 19” deal. Is this a public access channel in a certain region of the UK ? Hope the BBC has some more WW II efforts underway for the 70th ! Thanks

I’m like you, i have a real passion for this aspect of the war, and have a LOT of books on the Mighty Eighth. Also really looking forward to a growth of documentaries and publications on the subject. We’d probably have a lot to talk about you and I.
In the UK we have ‘freeview’ TV for people who don’t want to waste vast sums on cable or ‘sky’, IE packaged TV. Freeview channel 19 is I think the ‘Yesterday’ channel, which specialises in this type of programme.
I cannot wait for this new Spanks production to get underway (it’s a mini series), and am desperate for information on how to become an extra, as surely they will need many. If anybody knows anything please let me know!

Probably been on before this is a heads up .
So could one describe this as a ‘heads down’ rather than a ‘heads up’? 😀

I just switched to ch12 and found that “Yesterday Has Gone” and it’s been replaced by DAVE. YESTERDAY is now on ch19.
