Can’t really suggest anything more than the obvious Spitfire/Hurri,but it looks to me as though whatever it came from was lost in action rather than in an accident-the safety ring around the fire button is twisted round to the ‘Fire’ position.

Not an obvious Spitfire or Hurricane and yes, as found, the gun button was set to fire.
