I must make an effort to get there this year, as I haven’t been since just after they opened (The Halifax was a section and a set of wings propped up outside!).
Thanks for posting the pic’s.

It was a honour and pleasure to sit with this man and listen to history being retold.
Ahhhh… brings back memories of when I was a nipper listening to the tales of my Dad’s colleagues in the middle of the Dark Continent. Most of them were ex-RAF pilots or engineers and they kick-started my obsession with all things WWII. Fascinating and thrilling, if not awesome to think of them putting themselves at peril day after day. I salute them one and all.

If you go the weekend of May 13/14 2006, there is also going to be a big Military Vehicle rally to be held at the Museum, so there will be even more to see at this great museum. See details of the “Wheels & Wings Rally” on the Yorkshire MVT website.

RE: Yorkshire Air museum
Good or bad – some musuems have more to recomend than others. For example the Cranwell Museum beats Hendon for keen, freindly staff, attractive location etc, but is only of real interest to the Hardcore enthusiast. Where as say Yeovilton thrashes it for a family museum.

What do you need to know about Tangmere Neilly?
It was nice enogh last time I was there, sometime around the mid ’90s.
Seem to remember a few replica aircraft, but it didn’t then really make much use of the remnants of the field, or really tell me as much as I wanted to know.
However they did have an RAF Daimler Ferret standing guard.
Did I mention I have one for sale?

Well I toyed with the idea of calling you the ‘mistress’ of British understatement, then thought better of it.

RE: Yorkshire Air museum
Sadsack…is there such a thing as a good or bad museum? I’m interested in the Battle of Britain, so museums such as Hawkinge and Manston are particular favourites as mine…where as the Helicopter Museum is not of such interest to me, but I certainly would not say it’s not a good museum…
And as for the YAM…I love it, I think it’s fantastic, but that’s just my opinion…like David said, get a Museum guide and see what you think from that…but even then, in my humble opinion, some museums are far more interesting and have lots more to see than a brief listing in a museum guide can put across…
