Yorkshire Air Museum Halifax mock up (not HR792) pics requested

Hi all,

At the Yorkshire Air Museum, apart from Halifax “Freddie” there is a mock up of the port side of a Halifax cockpit showing all crewpositions. Does anyone have any pics of that?

As my project has been changed, I am looking into the possibility to do a similar set up.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers

yes, and the flight engineers position. If for the time being I have to make something like the mock up at Elvington, then so be it. The shell is the least of my worries.

Sounds good

Cees sounds like you can press on regardless then! Once all the individual crew positions etc are done the only thing left to do would be to build the shell like you say. Are you still concentrating on the pilots position?

You seemed all geared up to do the full thing with all the panels etc?

Peter,

Yes, I was. but then the floor was pulled from beneath me. I decided to take control of my project. The plans are still for a whole cockpit but for the time being I will continue in the attic on a smalle scale but still keep working on components. The majority of the internal fittings etc is finished so only the shell will be postponed for now.

Something I hadn’t expected to happen but then again you are never sure what next day will bring.

Cheers

Thanks Tony,

I had been thinking about your photographic skills. These are fine as it shows what can be achieved.

Your son seems to be a very sensible child:D

Hi Cees,
Here’s a couple that I took a few years ago, quality’s not brilliant but I can send you the unretouched, full sized, originals if you need them!

Can’t quite believe that a Lancaster Man is helping the enemy:dev2:

As an aside, I went to RAF Hendon yesterday with my 18 year old son and he said (can you believe this 😮 ) that he couldn’t see the difference between the Lancaster and Halifax.

Now obviously I had to slap him about a bit but it seems and much to my regret, that you might have another disciple to the Dark Side:diablo:

Although he may just have been winding me up…..such is the youth of today!
