The priminister said it was “very unlikely” Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe will be released from jail.
BUT its said doctors at Broadmoor had told the serial killer’s lawyers he was no longer dangerous. I know its a quote from a rag.
But it begs the question that Sutcliffe was given 20 life sentences and told by the judge he would serve a minimum of 30 years for his killings across the north of England.
“20 life sentences or 30 odd years”

Political speak for “not while you lot are looking. This is our democracy and we will run it our way !”

They let the killers of James Bulger out with new identities and they can do it again, its a disgrace !
Angonnamo, they were 10 at the time of the crime.
Sick as it was/is, I’m not for punishing a 10 year old for the rest of life.

Can’t we harvest Sutcliffe’s organs for transplant then he will have made a contribution to society.

One of them was in the next village to me here in Norfolk for a while.
Probably as well I only found out after they’d been moved on by their unmasking.
Moggy
I wonder if they had language coaching as part of their extensive/expensive rehabilitation as well…… then Aussie accent…… what next when a bored tabloid hack unmasks them in a slow news week?

Sutcliffe should be transfered from Broadmoore into any general population prison in Yorkshire. The whole problem would then goaway within a week hopefully to an unmarked grave.

Sutcliffe has served over thirty years in side most of it in high security.
Even if they do release him i don’t think he could cope with life outside.
?
over 30?
I remember it well, 1981 to 2009…that’s 27.
He was done for 13 women, he confessed to many more but the Police didn’t prosecute further as they already had enough to bang him away. “It wouldn’t be in the public interest” to follow up on his other confessions, I seem to remember the classic comment by the Police of the day.
The point is, we don’t care if he could survive outside. He should stay in solitary…minimum.

I’m always amazed at the light sentances in Europe…and I’m not referring to the lack of a death penalty.
Thirty years for a sting of murders.
Less time for rapes?
Here, they guy would have received a life sentence (without possibility of parole) for each of his victims. Even a Canadian serial killer got life, his wife who took part in the crimes only got 12 years.
I understand wanting/hoping a guy can somehow reabilitate and re-enter society, but does anyone really thing a guy this crazed is going to get better?

Unless, of course, they stone him to death in which case you’ll presumably be demanding the nuking of Yorkshire….. :p
I agree with Steve – let him rot.
I can never demand the nuking of Yorkshire. I am a Lancastrian by birth…..but I know good ale and good eating when I have it. Timmy Taylors landlord bitter and a 4kg dinky pie from York, some Rhubarb from “The triangle”. What more is needed.
As for him, yes he should have been hung. He was attacjed in Jail wasn’t he…lost an eye. LoL.

Why ? Did he say “Jahovah” ?
sorry, saw the movie the other day (yet) again…. cracks me up…..
He stays in Jail, end of – expensive but with the death penalty which without doubt he would have gotten in the 50’s etc, life term is life term. If he comes out, new ID, police protection, benefits (can’t see him working, CV would look a bit iffy……)

No problem, if he’s let out he will be killed by relatives of his victims; and rightly so.

What does it matter if he’s deemed cured…he did the crime let him do the time!!!
By: old shape - 19th February 2009 at 01:41
Oh dear.
“Very unlikely”, when spoken from the corrupt corridors of UK politics means that there is a chance he can be let out.
I don’t give a hoot if “He’s no longer dangerous”, what the hell does that matter. He got 20 lifes, so he should rot in there. (Well no actually he should have been given the death sentance)
