It is no good, people: I am officially depressed. Even my doctor agrees.
I have a whole buch of glossy literature (loose-leaf, so that I can’t self-harm myself on the staples) and it is asking me to imagine various calming scenarios.
So, lay down on the couch, ignore those cushioned walls and the thickset man by the door, and tell me…
If you could be any animal for a day, which would it be and why?

A dog so I can just once lick my own unmentionables.
I had a mate once who actually could. Amazing the things people resort to when trying to stave off boredom on guard duty at 3am… 😮
Flood – you’re among mates. Some (Kev) much wiser than others (me!), but we’re all your mates and we all pull each other through. And I don’t mean like a gun barrel. 😀
Anyway. Animals. Ah yes, I’d be a Lion. Sleeps for 80% of the time, and only wakes up to sh@g, kill and eat. Nice work if you can get it.

And anyway it’s very rude to speak of Angelina like that 😉
Any more and I call a moderator 😡
Moggy

I don’t even want to know how you found that out 😮

But Moggy, you can do pretty much all of the things that you’ve stated above already. I wouldn’t be too quick to broadcast the bit about the horse ……
Nope.
Angelina just won’t answer my letters. I put an SAE in and everything. 🙁
As for horse bothering.. Is that what happens to all those stepladders when they aren’t being used at Duxford?

I’d like to be my cat, so I can sleep all day!!
Or a great white shark – that’d just be gnarly…! 😀

A really quick and agile raptor – Sparrowhawk or something similar
A stallion in a particularly busy stud farm 😀
One of my cats. Asleep on the sofa whilst two of us are out earning the money to keep them in Tiddlesnosh or whatever it is they eat.
A dog so I can just once lick my own unmentionables.
Angelina Jolie’s horse, particularly if she goes in for bareback riding
A small spider with good eyesight so I could hide in the showers at a ladies sixth form college.
A blackbird so I could stand on a branch and sing my heart out at a beautiful sunset.

Ooo. Little bit political there.

A pit bull terrier – then I could rip the throats out of the leadership of the GMB, the TGWU and the entire groundstaff of BA. And I don’t apologise for saying that either.

Hey. Depression or sadness (different things) are immediate and the worst of things at the time. They are never the lesser dependant on scale. There is no comparison of sadness – sadness is as sadness does.
And sorrow floats.
(I’m proud to be Dave’s friend. And Kevs. And Robbo’s. And Ians. And Steve’s. And Chris’s. And Rebeccas. And many others amongst you not named.)

Kev.
I’m really sorry to hear all that.

😀 at Robbo

And like Kev says, things do improve with time. However bad things seem, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel…sometimes it’s a very long tunnel and the light is quite dim, but you have to hang in there.

Has he got any freinds here? Everything looks pretty stand off to me.
Yes, he has got friends here.
To answer the original question, I would be a bat for the day (or maybe that should be night?) I think bats are stunning, fascinating creatures, plus…wait for it…
I could really go like a bat out of hell then 😀
(To really get that, you would have to know what kind of driver I am ;))

Dave.
You’re depressed? We could all be depressed. Last week I was almost in hospital after having my head down the toilet for three days (That S-Bend is a bit of a bu**er.) The woman I wanted to spend my life with died in an accident, If I’d have been where I was meant to be, she wouldn’t.)
I’d just got a job where I was going to be made for life, then my health stopped me.
My friend’s just lost her nephew aged 16 in an accident. The majority of us have been in that place we call depression. There’s nothing there for us. We struggle out ourselves or our friends pull us through or a mixture of both.
Me? An animal for a day? No, i don’t think so. I am what I am and just like everyone else I make the best of what I have while trying to achieve my ambitions. They’re more modest these days than they used to be. Have i lowered my standards? No, they are just that bit harder to achieve, but strangely enough all the more satisfying.

kev35
Just remember Kev, tough times don’t last, tough people do

I’m not trying to belittle anyone’s problems. Just trying to say that things can and do improve with time. If low was talking about Flood he does have friends. I know I’ve been very grateful to him for research he has done for me.

Bit difficult to take if you are in that position, wouldn’t you say?
With the whole world against you and then getting told pull yourself together, you could be dead?
By: Geforce - 16th August 2004 at 00:28
I think what Kevin said to us made us clear we shoudn’t have anything to complain about. Consider your health to be the first care, everything else can be solved.
