Driving along aimlessly today when I suddenly saw two contrails in the sky. Screeching to a halt I grabbed the camera and pointed skywards.
For the guys who have the equipment to track aircraft, perhaps you can tell me what they were and where they were going.
Over London Ontario Canada at 15:44 hrs (Local Eastern Standard Time EST) Friday 23rd February 2007.
Cheers.

Ohhhh, someone local.
Yes there are lots… but my point is I had never seen two of them track together across the whole sky so close.
The sky is filled with the white scars everywhere you look.
Cheers from London.

A few months ago, flying from Paris CDG to Toronto YYZ, we flew in formation with another B763 for about three hours until finally the other aircraft overtook us and disappeared into the distance ahead of us.
I can garantee that second aircraft was no further than one thousand feet away from us. It great to see it! Then again that was over the Atlantic when most flights from Europe are headed west. Cheers!

CousinMadness, you will find that London sees a lot of jets flying on similar tracks daily. Spend a few minutes looking up at the sky and you might be able to count up to ten or eleven different jets going westbound and a similar number tracking east. With both Toronto and Detroit being close to London, you will see a lot of flights transiting over the city. I would imagine many of them are heading for the western provinces while the ones heading for the States would be heading for Chicago, Denver and other western American cities. Cheers and welcome to London!

Very cool sight, but they dont like they are in formation – they look like they are flying at different heights on their own flight plans. the zoom on your camera would only make them look even closer as high zooms destroy perspective.
Hi Adam,
I would hope that they are flying at different heights LOL. They came from the western horizon all the way out of my sight in a City to the East. If they were on different flight paths they were tracking for a very long time.
I understand focal length compression and also the different sizes of aircraft make them look like they are side by side. It’s really just a neat picture for I have never seen a pair this close tracking each other. Normally if you are lucky enough you might see them intersecting in the sky like a giant cross.
I’m still interested in anyone who has the software that can tell me what they were.
Cheers.
Madness… who is addicted to looking up. :diablo:
