….
You can sing the rap to “The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air”.
You’ve worn leggings and felt stylish.
You yearned to be part of the Baby-Sitters club.
You use to love playing with your MY Little Pet Shop.
You remember when it was actually worth getting up early on a Saturday
to watch cartoons.
You wore a ponytail on the side of your head and had scrunchies.
You remember reading “Goosebumps”.
You know the profound meaning of “Wax on, wax off”.
You have pondered why Smurfette was the only female smurf.
You took plastic cartoon lunch boxes to school.
You remember the craze then The banning of yo-yo’s.
You still get the urge to say “NOT” after (almost) every
sentence…Not…
You knew that Kimberly, the pink ranger, and Tommy, the green Ranger
were
meant to be together.
You collected pokemon cards.
You wore socks over leggings scrunched down.
You knew what it meant to say “Care Bear Stare”.
You knew all the characters names and their life stories on “Saved By
TheBell”.
You played and or collected “Pogs”.
You used to pretend to be a MIGHTY MORPHIN Power Ranger.
You had at least one GigaPet or Nano and brought it everywhere
You watched the ORIGINAL Care Bears, My Little Pony, and Ninja Turtles
Yikes pencils and rubbers were the ****.
You remember when the new Beanie Babies were always sold out.
You used to wear those stick on earings, not only on your ears, but
at the corners of your eyes.
You thought it would be so cool to be Alex Mack.
You know the Macarena by heart.
“Talk to the hand” … enough said.
You thought Brain from ‘Pinkey and the Brain’ would finally take over
theworld.
You were made to wear a pair of leggings with the straps on the
bottom.(Known as Ski-pants!!!! Lol Clairey the fairy remembers hers soooo
well)
Bum Bags, or whatever you called them.
You collected tazos.
I’LL BE BACK!
2 words … SPICE GIRLS…
And of course – Japanese AnimΓ© TV – digimon, pokemon etc
Nickelodeon was the best thing ever!

You’re about the same age as me so you obviously spent your formative years growing in the fifties
Aye, them was good years them was. My Dad was a farm worker, so, not one of the world’s best paid jobs but my folks gave me the best they could. They brought me up right and taught me a lot of things that school never would have. Basically, to put it bluntly I enjoyed my childhood.

well up here 50’s was pretty much same as 30’s, 20’s, 10’s….acient long agral society begun to formalize into modern one only in 60’s and 70’s…so I wouldn’t agree whit that….thougth it migth be different in the ‘big’ world
anyway, didnt real lyrics and meaning into pop came in the 60’s?? with the Dylan and the hippy-prog rock-conjuction????
By: steve rowell - 24th October 2006 at 04:28
You 90’s kids should be lucky you never saw the 80’s…. π
The fifties was the greatest era for kids growing up…only women had long hair and wore earings and men wore suits….there were no drugs and the music had lyrics ….kids had respect for their parents and the authorities…..it was pleasantville

I remember it very well. Strongly about the kids TV bit, as compared to whats on these days, Kid’s TV back then was superb. And all those things collected, Tazos, Pogs, Footie Stickers. The music may have been very throwaway, but being a kid in the 90s wasnt so bad!
