You want to watch this, a Widows 65 year search for her husband.

To find that far from forgotten he is honoured every year in France

A vaguely similar story is that of Fg Off Derek Allen DFC. His family had no idea where he was buried (he was buried as “unknown”) until our research triggered the discovery and for the CWGC to now erect a headstone with his name.

Now, the stone will be dedicated by the RAF/MOD in a ceremony on 20 July with twenty five family members present, including his brother and a cousin from Canada who grew up with him.

It is actually quite impossible to describe how much this means to them.

Love lasts forever, there are whole generations of families bought together because of this.

Wonderful story, and incredibly moving.
I have to say I totally agree with Andy on bringing closure.

Thanks for posting this, TonyT.

I am so pleased this lady finally knows what happened to her husband, it must have been awful for her all these years not knowing. A very moving story.

Powerful stuff.

If ever there was an example that demostrates how important it still is to bring closure to cases such as this, then this is it.
