You will want to watch this, Mr. Spitfire

I was looking at a magazine that I got while still at school “Scale Models”, issue 1, 1969, in which Peter had written a piece on preserved Spitfires and a list of the airworthy ones used in the Battle of Britain film. Interesting to note he made mention that if you wanted a Spitfire (there were two for sale at that time), fuel,maintenance and insurance could be as much as £50:00/hour. How things have changed

So good, he was lucky his wife liked the trips away !

Peter must have saved so many that returned to flight by knowing what was where.

Same with WIX still very active plus Facebook projects are very active.

No not at all,I am a regular on pprune,Fighter Control and Kia Owners Club –  which are all busy and very active 🙂

Key.Aero, which I literally have never visited, might be great. The forum’s like a morgue.

So much information used to be passed on from those who know..Now its as quiet as a church.

It was because of contributions made by Peter and a core number of others like him that made me gravitate to the forum, as was, and eventually join. I came to learn and this was the best place to do it. I was grateful that these forumites freely gave of their knowledge and experience. It is so sad to see the forum as it is now.

Yep I still miss the old forum – it was such a vibrant place,usually something interesting going on 🙂

Yes I miss his posts on this forum, always very informative. It is such a shame that he doesn’t frequent it any longer, I also used to enjoy the “Spitfire type report” that he used to do in Flypast years ago, always looked forward to that.
