Mine has to be ‘Re-Sparring The Lanc’, August 1996; I’ve read and re-read this a silly number of times, and never cease to be amazed by how much the old girl went through, how relatively quickly and easily.
Over to y’all?

Hi all
My favorite article would have to be the one on Victor XL231 at elvington, i think it was in november 2002. It’s my favorite because im in the photos as im part of the team that looks after her.

Men Behind the Medals! Always interesting & well written.
Anything to do with Mosquitoes, Beaufighters, Tempest/Typhoons, P-40s & most things WW2. That covers most things for me.
Cheers,
Neilly

I think the article about the rebuild of G-FIRE is probably the best well rounded article by the magazine. A close second comes the ‘discussion’ of aircraft schemes including G-AIDN in 1983
in what was really an extended editorial.

All of my articles!!!!!!!! (P-38 in the July 92 issue, Tigercat type report in 1994.) No seriously, that’s too biased to say that….My friend Alan Crouchman has done some awesome groundbreaking work over the years, including finding the identity of the French B-26 Marauder back in 1990. Any of his articles are usually very good…..However asking what article is my favorite is like asking what is my favorite song or favorite beautiful woman……impossible to say. As for my F7F type report, I was most disappointed to see another F7F type report about two years ago, that was so poorly written, and so outdated, it didn’t even bother to include my 1994 updates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe it’s time for me to get back to writing again with work going on this poor!!!!!!!!

Has to be ‘Down on the farm’ in the current issue, as I wrote it, despite them putting our curator’s name on it  Still, at least half the name was right. :

I’d have to go with ‘The First AWACS’. I can’t remember off-hand which issue, but it was a few years back. It’s the story of Wellingtons with a dorsal radar array (a la Sentry E3Ds) patrolling up and down the Dutch coast watching for He 111s trying to air-launch V1s. Fascinating stuff. But then I would pick a radar story! 😀

Hhhmmm, there are a lot of choices. I think mine is an article in the second edition (1983, with a plan view of a p38 on the front cover). This was on aircraft wrecks in the pacific. The pictures in the colour centre spread fascinated me as to what was still out there undisturbed. I’m still fascinated 20 years later.

Oooooh now that’s a difficult one I suspect it would be the August 03 article entitled ‘Janie’ and Friends 😀
