OK Folks. What is the story behind your choice of avatar?
Do describe it first, in case it changes before this thread dies.

Mine is of the four-Mustang line up at North Weald last summer (2003) because I just happened to be there and love Mustangs.

I’m sure there are more exciting answers than this though.

Well, mine is just a Belgian AF sqn badge… (349 Sqn) And additionally, the devise on it could annoy some posters… Like those who use planes with red stars on the tail 😀

I always thought your colour was to do with the competition between 349 and 350 squadrons 😎 – In 1950 the 350 Squadron crest background changed from a blue to a red circle to make a clear distinction with 349 Squadron – to date both Squadrons still proudly display their RAF crests. However, in its 60th anniversary year 350 squadron has reverted completely to blue as its colour. Up to now this was red as this was changed to differentiate them from sister-squadron 349. 349 now being based at Kleine Brogel this need does not exist anymore. – cheers – Allan 🙂

I have Janie, she’s gorgeous, and, one day, I’ll be flying her!!! We’re nothing if we dont have dreams!

Good luck to you in flying her, you’re right however she is a gorgeous machine and I’m only a little biased.
Stangely enough my avtar is also of Janie and shot out of the back of the Harvard at the end of April this year.

Well yeah, mine’s quite clear. I’m a sailor in education and I found this one on the modelwarships site/forum. So I decided to use this one… It’s quite a funny thing, since it’s true. If you don’t pay attention, the wheel won’t start turning, but the compass will, so you have steer very attentive to keep your heading! So, no big stories, just fits in this small avatar thingie… 😉

“Forgive me – but that cockpit looks a bit crowded for a solo…”

Ah, you caught my deliberate mistake 😀

It was in fact a few days after first solo. The check pilot, not in the picture, took off after the meeting to give the gentlemen of the press some pictures of a T-17 with one pilot in it.

No, I don’t think you would let a prince, anyone?, off on a first solo if you don’t thrust them!

Best Regards

Can anyone point me in the right direction in finding a moving avatar
One I saw a while back was a rotating globe similar to what the BBC used to use

I hate to say it, but it looks like something that went splat on my windscreen. Any chance of a larger pic so that we can see what it is of!!! 🙂

When I see the sign of the Golden M, I just visualise people being rushed into hospital, incapacitated on trolleys, being rushed down corridors while a posse of doctors and nurses try to prevent the heart attack being fatal. Ah! MuckDonalds!

Well, it was one of the few images of an aircraft i like that was small enough to still be recognized and fit in the tiny constraints of these forums’ guidelines.

Before his marriage to Mary from Tasmania there will be a “parade”. The Flying School is working up to a 12 ship MFI 17 formation.
