Do you want to see that spot at MAN tomorrow? :D:D:D
Yes, I’m the black-hearted fiend that merged the threads.
Don’t worry, I’ve already given myself a good hard slap for it…..
Not sure I’d go quite as far as ‘black-hearted fiend’…:D

I thought having the two separate actually made sense, as merging the two has made this thread somewhat confusing to read through, but that’s just my opinion!

All great photos.
However, to all those who posted multiple photos… what part of “Show us only one photo that you took yourself” do you not understand 😉
I posted one photo in the ‘best of 2005’ thread, and several in the general ‘best of 2005’ thread. I thought having the two separate actually made sense, as merging the two has made this thread somewhat confusing to read through, but that’s just my opinion!

I noticed the “one only” too, but seeing as most others had posted more than one I didn’t want to miss out. However, if I had to select one of mine, it’d be the Ryanair 737.
There’s been some great pics posted here – the Binter ATR stood out a mile when it was posted in the ACE topic and it still does. The sky-scape towards the top is also excellent. I just wish everyone would post at [say] 800 pixels because as soon as someone goes to 1000 pixels or more those of us who use screens at 10245 have to do left and right scrolling to see the entire picture.

Here’s my favourites for last year, my first year having a crack at this aviation photography lark! 🙂
Hopefully this year will see a big improvement, especially now I’ve got a telephoto for the Fuji 😀
Best of luck and good health to all for 2006, and happy snapping!
Kev 😉

Skymonster…Class. Absolute class. The Kalitta Air 747 and Ryanair 732 shots are just awesome. Can I ask what kind of camera you’re using?

Argh! So many pictures, so little time to chose.
Many of my favourites from 2005 are military or warbirds, but in the spirit of this forum I select just one military subject:
Next, the Oracle Challenger, in part because of its obvious connection to my current employer:
OK, so now we move onto heavies. I’ve always enjoyed Howard Beach at JFK, and this one is probably the most appropriate for me as it was departing on the Connie 207 to my “home” airport, EMA, on the regular twice-weekly service:
Going back to a dismal day at Miami in January, this one quite appeals due to the humidity causing so much condensation and the wingtip vortex trail:
Finally, my favourite commercial image of the year – I still hate Ryanair, but I like this picture, the overall effect of which I’d had in mind for a long time, although I did not particularly expect the subject to be a Ryanair 737:
OK, I’m done.

I must say that the standard of photography on this particular forum has come on leaps and bounds in the past few years. There’s some really talented people on here now, some of whom were snapping with basic gear and little or no experience just a short while ago.
Always a pleasure to see these shots, and by the way, that Binter shot is ace !!!! 😀

Just dropped by to take a look.
Some incredible work here.
My vote?
Hard to choose, but I’d plump for PMN’s cloudy shot near the top 🙂

Very nice photos everybody.
Wannabe Pilot that Malaysia Airlines B747-400 is absolutely fantastic!

Hmm very hard choices. I’ll go with my top 5 too…choosing the top 1 is impossible.
Ok, well lets start with my most popular/famous of the year. Taken at LHR. (For anyone living in Germany, pick up this month’s Aero International magazine for a look at the photo in print. It’s part of the Top 20 photos of the year)

Now from the same day, probably my most successful sunset shot.

And here’s quite a different one. The quality isn’t great at all, but it was a very unique moment as this BA 747 had a go-around during sunrise at LHR.

A recent shot, from ACE a couple of weeks back.

And finally, a tough choice. I didn’t immediately think of putting this one. There are plenty more from ACE I could choose, and also one or two from my trip to MAN last week. But it got a bit of attention at the time, and it’s still one I’m quite pleased with. It could do with a re-edit, but I’m too tired! Taken at the MAN forum meet, back in August.

I’m with you on the tap tail fin – It’s a strange but interesting shot.
By: PMN - 3rd January 2006 at 17:02
Here’s a few of my 2005 favourites. The first shot is very poor quality, but I like the perspective of it with the 747 taking off in the background.

The original Queen Of The Sky!

I managed to snap the tail of our A319 at LGW before boarding our flight to LIS. There’s something about it I like but I’m not sure what. Just an unusual view I guess.

And continuing my love affair with the 757, here’s an ex BA 752 now fulfilling quite a different role in life.

OK, I know I’m being a little cheeky here as this is commercial aviation, but these three are definately among my favourite aircraft photos of last year, taken at Airbourne. Mods, let me know if you’d like them removing. I know they don’t quite fit in with the theme of this forum.

This would have to be mine, only took last month but hey it’s great. Seen here landing on runway 33 at BHX.
