Your dream aviation job…

I don’t normally go for hypothetical questions or polls but I was watching ITV this evening (‘The way we travelled’) and it got me thinking what jobs in aviation I would truely like to have had. It boiled down to 3 –

1) HP42 Captain for Imperial Airways
2) Flightcrew on one of the commercial flying boats, or more recently…
3) Flightcrew on the DC10 for Laker.

In flight or ground based, what would you like to be/have been?

So that would mean you’d have a wait before getting to captain an A330 (lol) 😀

Hmmm…. dream aviation job ?

Probably a combination of the job I have now and the aviation world…

I guess it would be the chance to make some of those aviation/airline videos and DVD’s that you can buy through the various aviation magazines. I think most of them are cheap and nasty productions with little imagination, so I’d like a job that got me airside and up in the air making decent flight docu’s and recording some good quality air to air footage.

BTW, what was the avatar Wys ??????

I just want to be paid what I feel I’m worth with the best work rules in the industry. I don’t care how many seats I have behind me or the color of the airplanes skin. The few is still the same from the front not matter what. I would like to fly something that I can stand up in though so it would have to be perhaps the new EMB-170 or larger.

Other than an airline career I would love to teach landings in a Stearman out of a grass strip in my backyard. Easy commute, fun airplane, and I would get to instruct again. 🙂

feck, at the moment, I’d be happy to just have a job…

well, pilot, I suppose, though that’d be totally unrealistic.

Hmmm.

1. ceo of an airline
2. pilot (in Europe, not North America)
3. airport manager

I have a friend who works at Bombardier arranging deals with airlines, seems pretty cool as well.

My three choices would have to be:
1) Captain, BA Concorde.
2) Flying 747s for Cathay Pacific when it was at Kai Tak.
3) Test pilot for either Boeing or Airbus.

Ah well, I guess I’ll just build up my hours before applying to Cathay or BA.

Good topic Wys.
I would like to be a captain of BA back in the days they had the Tristars.
Be an A330 captain at any of the charters that operate them ( Thomas Cook Monarch MyTravel etc)
I would also like to be an Air Traffic Controller at either LHR LGW or MAN.
And finally a flight despatcher at any charter airline.

I am about the shatter the myth that women interested in aviation only want to be (or should want to be) cabin attendants.
I would love to be an airline pilot (any type, any airline).
I would love to be an aircraft engineer (airframe or avionic).
I would love to be a flight despatcher.
I would not want to be a stewardess or check in assistant.
