RE: God Save The Queen
geforce : i missed the optional macheovelli lesson althoughall the wiggers go on about him (don’t know why butit has something to do with 2pac)
callaghan – all government in recent years could be considered toataliterian i was not spercifically reffering to any administaration but the idea of a powerfull state that always repreeses such stuff as the stuff the sex pistols were on about would involke sucha reaction
anyway……

RE: God Save The Queen
Wouldn’t call it fascist, Rabie. Machiavellistic is probably more related here. Maggie would fit perfectly in “Il Principe”.

RE: God Save The Queen
hate doing this on a topic that’s meant to be light hearted, and it’s funny how this always seems to happen on this notice board, but in answer to you comment Ivan.
In the UK today the ‘New’ Labour governments has such a large majority that if they wanted to paint every lamp-post in the UK red then they have the means and mandate to do so, despite what every opposition is posed, they can choose to ignore it.
Unfortunately the main opposition the “Tories” are so set on self-destruction that they are in danger of becoming marginalized and anyway don’t have any power to stop the present Government from doing just as they please. The Lib Dems would have to see such a unprecedented swing in the polls to get themselves elected, something I’, sure hasn’t happened in British politics in recent history.
The next General Election is not for another 2 to 3 years, and it is a fact of politics that the voting public has a very short memory, what happens this year will have very little if any effect on the outcome of the election when it happens. So unless there is a dramatic change in the political structure of this country at this present time there is no viable or credible alternative to the regime that we have at present
Ivan if you can think of a credible alternative I as well as the population of the UK would love to hear it.

EN830,
“Unfortunately there is no credible alternative at this present time.”
Dangerous words my friend.

RE: God Save The Queen
Have to disagree Rabie
I assume that you are referring to Maggie T’s Government, God Save the Queen made it to No.2 in the charts (Or was it No.1 !!!) in 1977 the time on the Silver Jubilee, Jim Callaghan’s Labour Government were in power, I won’t call him or his cronies particularly Fascist
Maggie God bless her came to power in 1979.
I looked up totaliterianis in my Roget’s thesaurus the definitions could easily be applied to Mr Blairs style of leadership, I quote
Absolute, absolutist, arbitrary, authoritarian, autocratic, dictatorial, fascistic, undermocratic, illiberal, monolithic, Nazi, oppressive, despotic, tyrannical.
Unfortunately there is no credible alternative at this present time.
As to great Lyrics,
Learning to Fly by Pink Floyd springs to mind.
Into the distance, a ribbon of black
Stretched to the point of no turning back
A flight of fancy on a windswept field
Standing alone my senses reeled
A fatal attraction holding me fast, how
Can I escape this irresistible grasp?
Can’t keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted Just an earth-bound misfit, I
Ice is forming on the tips of my wings
Unheeded warnings, I thought I thought of everything
No navigator to guide my way home
Unladened, empty and turned to stone
A soul in tension that’s learning to fly
Condition grounded but determined to try
Can’t keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I
Above the planet on a wing and a prayer,
My grubby halo, a vapour trail in the empty air,
Across the clouds I see my shadow fly
Out of the corner of my watering eye
A dream unthreatened by the morning light
Could blow this soul right through the roof of the night
There’s no sensation to compare with this
Suspended animation, A state of bliss
Can’t keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I

RE: God Save The Queen
qod save the queen……
the facist raegime……
there is no future……..
god save the queen……
no problem with that – gov at the time was quite fascist but ‘fascist’ is really used to imply any sort of totaliteriansim (ie censorship) so why not ………
im sure geforce has the full version somewhere 😉

God Save The Queen
And of course, I am referring to the infamous Sex Pistols version. Out of respect I won’t post the lyrics here unless I am suitably harrassed into doing so.

RE: Your fav. lyrics?
It’s got to be Wayne County and the Electric Chairs-“If you don’t want to know me then ##### off!”- the chorus is particularly good because to get ##### to rhyme with not-so-obvious words ain’t easy.
Martha and the Muffins – Echo beach – is not bad.
Best regards

RE: Your fav. lyrics?
Monthy Pythons Penis song
Isn’t it fun to have a Penis……

Limbo by Fischer-Z
A riddle a piddle a middle again….. Dah dah dah dah de dah….. Limbo
Razzmatazz is a pain in the butt
Or even Pretty Paracetamol by the same group.
Pretty Paracetamol you sooth my aching brow, I need yah when my head is spinning round.
Look into the looking glass but none of them is me, it hard to read the writing on the label,

Nelly the Elephant my wife’s favourite
Nelly the elephant packed her trunk and said goodbye to the circus, of she went with a trumpety trump, trump, trump trump. Dah Dah.

RE: Your fav. lyrics?
how about this…great lyrics..from song Change Of Seasons by Dream Theater…the song is 23 mins long.
I remember a time
My frail, virgin mind
watched the crimson sunrise
Imagined what it might find
Life was filled with wonder
I felt the warm wind blow
I must explore the boundaries
Transcend the depth of winter’s snow
Innocence caressing me
I never felt so young before
There was so much life in me
Still I longed to search for more
But those days are gone now
Changed like a leaf on a tree
Blown away forever
into the cool autumn breeze
The snow has now fallen
and my sun’s not so bright
I struggle to hold on
with the last of my might
In my den of inequity
viciousness and subtlety
struggle to ease the pain
struggle to find the sane
Ignorance surrounding me
I’ve never been so filled with fear
All my life’s been drained from me
The end is drawing near….
III. Carpe Diem
‘Carpe diem, seize the day’
I’ll always remember
The chill of November
The news of the fall
The sounds in the hall
The clock on the wall ticking away
‘Seize the Day’
I heard him say
Life will not always be this way
Look around
Hear the sounds
Cherish your life while you’re still around
“Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying;
Tomorrow will be dying.”
We can learn from the past
But those days are gone
We can hope for the future
But there might not be one
The words stuck in my mind
alive from what I’ve learned
I have to seize the day
To home I returned
Preparing for her flight
I held with all my might
Fearing my deepest fright
She walked into the night
She turned for one last look
She looked me in the eye
I said, ‘I Love You…Good-bye’
“It’s the most awful thing you’ll
“If you’re lying to me…”
“Oh, you dearly love her.”
“…just have to leave… all our lives.”
“Seize the day!”
“Something happened.”
“Gather ye rosebuds while ye may.”
“She was killed.”
IV. The Darkest of Winters
(Instrumental)
V. Another World
So far or so it seems
All is lost with nothing fulfilled
Off the pages and the T.V. screen
Another world where nothing’s true
Tripping through the life fantastic
Lose a step and never get up
Left alone with a cold blank stare
I feel like giving up
I was blinded by a paradise
Utopia high in the sky
A dream that only drowned me
Deep in sorrow, wondering why
Oh come let us adore him
Abuse and then ignore him
No matter what, don’t let him be
Let’s feed upon his misery
Then string him up for all the world to see
I’m sick of all you hypocrites
holding me at bay
And I don’t need your sympathy
to get me through the day
Seasons change and so can I
Hold on Boy, No time to cry
Untie these strings, I’m climbing down
I won’t let them push me away
Oh come let us adore him
Abuse and then ignore him
No matter what, don’t let him be
Let’s feed upon his misery
Now it’s time for them to deal with me
VII. The Crimson Sunset
I’m much wiser now
A lifetime of memories
run through my head
They taught me how
for better or worse, alive or dead
I realize there’s no turning back
Life goes on the offbeaten track
I sit down with my son
Set to see the Crimson Sunset
(Gather ye rosebuds while ye may)
Many years have come and gone
I’ve lived my life, but now must move on
(Gather ye rosebuds while ye may)
He’s my only one
Now that my time has come
Now that my life is done
We look into the sun
‘Seize the day and don’t you cry,
Now it’s time to say good-bye
Even though I’ll be gone,
I will live on, live on.’

RE: Your fav. lyrics?
One of the top ten of the 20th century:
All together now guys!!
BARBER:
I’m a lumberjack, and I’m okay.
I sleep all night and I work all day.
MOUNTIES:
He’s a lumberjack, and he’s okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.
BARBER:
I cut down trees. I eat my lunch.
I go to the lavatory.
On Wednesdays I go shoppin’
And have buttered scones for tea.
MOUNTIES:
He cuts down trees. He eats his lunch.
He goes to the lavatory.
On Wednesdays he goes shoppin’
And has buttered scones for tea.
He’s a lumberjack, and he’s okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.
BARBER:
I cut down trees. I skip and jump.
I like to press wild flowers.
I put on women’s clothing
And hang around in bars.
MOUNTIES:
He cuts down trees. He skips and jumps.
He likes to press wild flowers.
He puts on women’s clothing
And hangs around in bars?!
He’s a lumberjack, and he’s okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.
BARBER:
I cut down trees. I wear high heels,
Suspendies, and a bra.
I wish I’d been a girlie,
Just like my dear Papa.
MOUNTIES:
He cuts down trees. He wears high heels,
Suspendies, and a bra?!
[talking]
What’s this? Wants to be a girlie?! Oh, My!
And I thought you were so rugged! Poofter!
[singing]
He’s a lumberjack, and he’s okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.
He’s a lumberjack, and he’s okaaaaay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day

RE: Your fav. lyrics?
Dave,
Yep, that’s the one!!! Don’t like it at all.
As for lyrics that stick in your mind, how about this one?
“Shoulda kept my eyes shut,
My mouth shoulda closed,
But the mixture of vomit and blood just crept up through my nose.
The scene a little clearer, as soon as I awoke,
Father stands, with rope in hand
Screaming mother kneels in hope and we hope, and we hope,
that the words that she says won’t provoke…..”
Any ideas?
