RE: your favorite airplane

Well Matheww, Airbus 340 cockpit is nice except its all blue in colour. I HATE THAT. B777 cockpit is the state of the art cockpit, ofcource ur right, i think the pilot has least to do. I like the cockpit of the A320 alot. Its real nice.

RE: your favorite airplane

Hi all,
My favourite aircraft has to be the B757-200,and the TU-204, looks alot like the B757. From Airbus, it has to be said, all there products are fantastic, the A300-600 superb, pity airlines are converting them to pure F.
I have a question for all you guys and gals, what cockpit do you prefer….

1a – B747-200
b – B747-400
2a – A320
b – B737-xxx
3a – DC-10-30
b – Tristart
4a – B777-xxx
b – A330/A340

I like the B757/767 cockpits, they are just right, complicated, but simple, if you get my drift. The B777, I hate the cockpit, you push a couple of buttons and the engines light up, another few, and the FMC is controlling everything, form just afterT/O to the landing roll, what do you think?

RE: your favorite airplane

In terms of looks it has to be the A330, as you can tell by my username. Love Lanzarote as you are so close to the aircraft and always look forward to the LTU A330-300 arriving twice a week.

Best aircraft I’ve flown on (apart from Concorde which was a one off) has to be the A340. Very nice aircraft, pitty Virgin only kept it on the MAN – MCO run for one year.

Hi!

Philo I find your views on commercial airliners insulting to say the least. How can you not find them interesting and why are you on this forum anyway?

RE: your favorite airplane

I love all commercial aircraft, they all have their own niche in the aviation industry.
For sheer size-the 744, 773
for elegance- A330,772,763,A340
for state of the art fly by wire flight controls – the Airbus Family.
some are good at some things but not at others, for example the 777 is slightly noisier than the A340, but it is smoother, whereas the A340 is quieter(if not slightly underpowered) but can suffer a few shakes in the rear cabin.
I say just enjoy flying on them, photographing them, piloting them cos they are all fantastic examples of Aeronautical technology, and think about it they all been created in the 99 odd years since Orville & Wilbur made the first flight, that is one of the fastest & most spectacular advances in history.

RE: your favorite airplane

A bit of nostalgia! The Lockheed Electra (despite early problems) and the Lockheed L1011 Tristar always have been my favorites. They were big, comfortable, pleasing to the passengers and from what I understand from the pilots, dreams to fly. The Boeing 727-200 was an obvious winner also. It was sturdy, sleek and could go anywhere. Considering today’s “high-tech” flight – I think honors should go to the new generation 737s – 700s and 800s. They can do about anything. For the long haul guys, I am hearing the A340 stands “head and shoulders” above all. Would be interested in your opinions.

RE: your favorite airplane

hi there. On a recent trip over the pond I flew on a BA 777. I found this a very good experience. They are very nice aircraft.
I also find A330’s very nice and while at Manchester in midweek I saw a very nice Emirates example. I like the Tristar also, although it is getting a bit old.
I also think that Embraer regional jets are very nice but does anyone share my view that the regional jet companies such as Embraer, Avro, Bombardier and the new examples from Alliance are beginning to look very much alike?? I am worried that aeroplanes are losing their identities which will be a great shame when they start to replace aircraft with such types.

My favoruite is the A340 because they are comfortable and compared with the B777, they are not so noisy.

RE: your favorite airplane

Aside from having a soft-spot for the DC-10, being the A/C I first travelled overseas on – as opposed to domestic travel – I don’t have a particular favorite, however I do have a “least-preffered” plane, namely the BAe-146/RJ series.

1) They are so S-L-O-W. They are used here in Australia on some very long flights, and it takes forever to get to your destination. Almost a “get-out-and-push” feeling. But, as a 747 skipper once remarked to me, what do you expect from a plane powered by 4 APU’s!

2) Their reliability in service here has been less than stunning. You can spend lots of time in some very remote places while you wait for an engineer to arrive from civilisation, to fix the damn thing (hydraulic leaks on 2 occasions experienced, plus more known of via collegues…).

3) There is still an on-going debate about oil-fumes leaking into the cabin from the engines. Very controversial here between the airlines & the pilot & FA unions!

The proof of the pudding is that Ansett have withdrawn the 146’s from several routes.

I created a topic entitled ‘Favourite and worst looking airliner’ some time ago on this forum, have a look at it to see what types of aircraft people like and dislike.

RE: your favorite airplane

It has to be the A320-200; and the Boeing 757-200. I have flown in these aircraft countless times with UK Charter carriers. I do have to say though….. I think the A318/19/20/21 series are to be the cutting edge in European Airlines.

RE: your favorite airplane

OK, OK. I’ll accept your apology, I was caught on a bay anyway and probably over reacted a little. No hard feelings eh?

Anyway, my favourite aircraft is the 757 series. I’ve had my best flights on these birds and they look really elegant. The 767 is a nice aircraft too, but not as comfortable as the Airbus widebodies like the A310.

To be honest, it is always difficult naming a favourite aircraft because I like so many of them.

Regards,

JayW.

RE: your favorite airplane

I will give a proper answer to the question you asked.
I like ALL the aircraft types I’ve flown in, I couldn’t really give a favourite
The 747-400 is high on my list, I had the opportunity to visit the flight deck on one of these aircraft, one of my best in-flight memories.
The 727 is another one I have a soft spot for, I had many enjoyable trips to Iceland on this aircraft.
The Fokker F27 on account that the ones I went in flew relatively low and had large windows for excellent viewing and air-to-ground photography opportunities.
The Avro RJ, an ugly little devil, but I had a great flight in one of these with Sabena, one of the most entertaining flights I have ever been on.

RE: your favorite airplane

Sorry guys,
I was only joking and really did not intend to offend anybody. At the end of the day we obviously all enjoy aircraft and aviation and as with any other subject there will be personal preferences.
My comments were suposed to be a bit of fun, just a bit of banter from the warbird/ military quarter.
Please accept this as an appology.
