“O Holy Night”

Sung by the worlds best tenor since Pavrotti – Roberto Allangnia. If this doesn’t reduce you to a heap of jelly – you ain’t got no soul.

Not a hymn, but back in 2006 a gent in the USA put some lights on his house, timed a display to music, transmitted it on a FM frequency so people could take their kids and watch (and listen) from the comfort of their car……………….simply brilliant:eek:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14MYmlUKovM&feature=related

the same gent has done more houses since:

One thing that always amused me was that because it made a Chistmas No.1, Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall (Part Two)” appeared on Christmas albums! Nothing like a vitriolic Roger Waters for a bit of festive cynicism!

[QUOTE=Deano;1835912]p.s. even Noddy hates his own song. Brilliant.

I bet the “Nose Art” on the aircraft you fly, says, “BAH, HUMBUG” Deano, and your favorite Christmas film is SCROOGE 😀

Slade’s “Merry Christmas Everybody”, reminds me of Christmases in Belgium, which I used to love and now really miss 🙁 Shakin Stevens “Merry Christmas Everyone” for the same reason!

Fairytale of New York- Pogues and Kirsty MacColl, although its a song that always leaves a tear or 2 in my eyes. Mostly as Kirsty was killed the dayof my my dads funeral who also died unexpectedly and both near Christmas and in the same hospital as where Kirsy was born.

On a more cheerful note the following raise a smile for me

*Tom Petty’s Christmas All over again

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaPj1GoDpQw&feature=youtube_gdata_player

*Bruce Springsteens Santa Claus Is coming to town

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pauxfOgZe0A

On a softer note I do like some of the classics like “Let it snow” by Frank Sinatra and Nat King Coles Christmas song, Both remind me of childhood days and my Grandad etc more innocent times.

and lastly on a more real/amusing note

*Ricky Tomlinsons Christmas my A*se

Wizzard and Slade just get over played and for some reason I would rather jump in the oven with the turkey than listen to Mariah Carey’s All I want for Christmas, it just makes my ears bleeds and my teeth itch:D .

None of them. What is it with this country and the old Christmas songs? You can’t go anywhere without listening to Noddy bloody Holder and Slade, or All I want for Christmas, or Band Aid. You walk out of one shop playing them, and into another playing the same crappy songs every year without fail. Do they think they are doing a public service and think it gets everyone “in the spirit”? Well it doesn’t work, it drives me bloody insane. It’s the same 3 songs, over & over & over & over & over again. It should be used as a torture method.
To be honest, I’d rather watch my mate the HypnoToad:

Depends on mood at the time, but if sat in a darkened roon, rocking in my chair and tamping out my pipe, illuminated only by the flickering red glow of my old aircraft instruments, then the Greg Lake I Believe In Father Christmas song does it for me, probably helped by the classic riff used in the chorus.
At a party you really can’t beat Wizards’ I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday.

[QUOTE=spitfireman;1835723]’Great escape’ theme tune.

As you wear briefs BAZ, I would have thought that “Hang out your washing on the Siegfried Line” would be more appropriate, :p
Jim.
