Your Tips on Scanning…..

I have some old Photo’s that I have tried scanning. But, they are on matt paper, real matt paper…it actually has a texture. The scan has picked up the texture and the pictures have a Zillion white X’s on them.
I have tried about 6 different scan qualities.
I have also tried scanning it behind another piece of glass.
I have tried a few things in CS2 to get rid, such as trying to get hold of them with the magic wand, filtering by each colour channel, dust-n-scratches removal, noise reduction. All failed.
If you have come across this, how did you get over it?

My next attempt will be to photograph it, but they will need holding behind the glass to keep them flat. Glass = reflections. Non reflective glass also has problems in that it too has a slight texture.
